At first I wanted to keep my R33 OEM and enjoy the vehicle as my daily driver. I truly did. Then I looked more thoroughly at the maintenance of a Skyline (R32-R34) not the R35...it might be too pricey and difficult to get import parts but I can easily get aftermarket parts...

Let's examine the situation. This is not only an import sports car it is a true import. This is not the same as going to the local car dealership and purchasing something other than a domestic vehicle. I purchased a Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec from a Japanese auction, had the vehicle with ALL OF IT'S PAPERWORK sent to me, sailed over, ported in California. Had it inspected then sent to the registered importer, more inspection, inspected and approved by the United States government then delivered to my home. This required a large amount of time, patience, money and sometimes luck.

Once I received the R33 and began driving it as my daily I absolutely fell in love with the car. Like a good father I accepted the basic flaws: uncomfortable seats, worn out suspension, Japanese radio (Only went up to 89.0 FM), no dead pedal space. The car was certainly not for the American market. Yes, the car is a right hand drive vehicle and the parts require a bit more effort when looking. I will deal with the extra work because I am driving a car that I have wanted for over 20 years and never really believed I would own.

A reality check: Time.

How much pain do you really want to endure?

The driver seat is directly pressing on my left sciatic nerve. After a year or two of this pressure and other complications, I am showing more damage and difficulties in my common activities. I eventually find the same style Recaro seats that came in my 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/SC. I purchased and install an entry level head unit with CD and bluetooth streaming capabilities. At this point I am beginning to have trouble finding basic equipment such as air filters, intake filter, oil filter, clutch, brakes, etc...I have learned the compatibilite the Skylines of these eras have with the 300ZX or American released Z series vehicle of the same time period. This realization made my life SO MUCH easier. It isn't the answer to all parts but it covers most basic parts it seems.

This being said: with anything not compatible it is more inexpensive for me to replace those parts with an aftermarket part which might provide more performance enhancement and be more inexpensive not to mention readily available here in the United States Of America. Well shit, OEM is out the window and performance is coming in! This is my dream car that I now own! Cars are made to be driven sir! I am going to drive this car into the ground and I am going to have as much fun as possible while doing it. Going all in!

Introducing located in Springfield, MO

The Texas Z Crew and I made our way up to Branson, Missouri, enjoying the scenic route on our way to embrace the curvaceous roads that are available between here and there. On this drive I was driving my Hennessey 2014 Z28, it is my track car/weekend warrior.

Once the Z Crew and I made it into Branson we settled in which means got out hotel rooms, eat some food then gathered around with some delicious drinks and planned how we were going to tackle the first day of our temporary escape from our obligations. This was may only have been my second time to be in the Branson area with the Z Crew however they had been embraced the geography of the area countless times and they happened to have several local friends.

My friends huddled together and planned out how the next day was going to occur, we, I just enjoyed the company and drinks. I trusted them completely, one of the gents I call dad because he is the father of one of my oldest friends which means I have know him since I was a teenageer. I am just excited about about the experience!

On this trip the beast is going to ravage the roads!

The following morning we feed ourselves and wait for the arrival of our local friends who arrived on time and were ready for the adventure. As we start up our courageous cars a number of the guys put on gloves and fist bump. The engines warm up and we make our final conformations of our first path. We begin our trek away from the city and into the Ozark Mountains. Our tires have plenty of time to warm up and I have time to select which artist I am going to listen to for this part of the adventure, I pick some Tech N9ne seeing as I am near his hometown. It is going to be a good day!

The squad of Nissans and one Chevrolet tear through the mountains and curves, changing order as they cut through the countryside with the exhaust roaring, birds fly away in fear while the sound reverbs off of tall green trees. None of this team is new to high speed rattle snake roads, still sweat does build between your bare hands and the steering wheel, I wasn't one of the cool kids with gloves, mental note made: acquire a pair of driving gloves.

My first ride in my Z28 after completion.

As we progress through these roads we admire the countryside and smile at our freedom to enjoy the moment and sharing this time with our friends. It really is something that more people should experience in the proper, safe atmosphere.

This is was my first time to ever tackle these roads in a group, solo I had touched the tip of these roads but hadn't fully grabbed them as I did this day. After a hour or two of applying ourselves to the adrenaline we make our way into Springfield, Missouri to have a meal with some of the local crew.

The Z28 is a beautiful beast, you should make the R33 into an exotic monster.

Being the only non-Nissan on this trip or among the surrounding people I had to defend myself with the fact that I am driving a Chevrolet currently but back home I own a real, right-hand drive Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec. With that being said I was then escorted to and introduced to Spoolin' Enterprises . As you can see from some of the photos above I was able to come to a deal with Spoolin' Enterprise to create the exotic monster out of my R33. Not too long after this trip a close friend of mine and I made our way back to Springfield and dropped my R33 off at the shop in Springfield where it is being beautifully sculpted into a glorious grail of my teenage dreams.
